Home-Past Meetings-Regency Era Food and Fashon
Good Day, Janeites!
We have a new meeting coming on October 8th from 1:00 Pm to 3:00 PM.
We
will meet at the Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd NE. (Map
Attached)
Our
topic for the meeting will be Regency Era Food and Fashion.
Have you wondered what a
spencer, pelisse, or fichu is?
(Look Here for
fichu – I didn’t know either!)
Tana Reber will enlighten us
on Women’s Regency fashion and explain some of the intricacies of
the necessities of the time!
Have you ever wondered about the dinners during the
Regency period? This ‘White Soup’ was all the rage during dinner at the
Bennet’s. Have you ever tasted a rout cake or ratafia
cake or drunk syllabub or negus? Nickalee
Jung will provide some insight on Regency era
food – and perhaps some recipes!
If you wish, come
wearing an example of your Regency fashion and/or
bring a Regency dish and the recipe to share to the meeting. You will have an
opportunity to discuss your items with the others.
For those planning ahead for
the holidays, we will celebrate Jane’s Birthday on December 10, 2016 at Nickalee Jung's home 11501 San Rafael NE.
Don’t forget, we
also have two items in our raffle occurring during Jane’s Birthday celebration
in December. Tickets for each item are $10.00 each and may be obtained at the
meeting.
First
we have a repeat of a very popular selection from last year – Tana Reber is
offering to make a Regency Dress for one lucky winner – the specifications are
shown on the image. Tana will create the dress especially for the winner of the
Raffle.
Joanne has donated a rug for our raffle – the tickets for this item are also
$10.00 each and will be available the next meeting.
It at any time you decide
that you don't want to continue to receive our notices, you only need to send a
short email to dal@jasnanm.com and I will
be happy to remove you from our list. If you know additional individuals who
might like to receive our mailings, a simple request to the same address will
insure that it is done.
